When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.”

– Audre Lorde

Introducing our workshop: Disability Inclusive Design and Language

‘It was a delight having Deborah and Sulaiman running the virtual workshop for us around Demystifying inclusive Language and Design within the Disability and Neurodiversity landscape. It really made people think in a comfortable environment, opening up conversation and reflection. It was all very helpful but primarily that of the emphasis asking critical questions and sitting with the question around disability with the addition of hammering home that 80% of disabilities are acquired in someone’s lifetime, truly showing that this subject should not be ignored as it will affect pretty much everyone at some point. Additionally it being presented and gaining first hand experiences from Deborah and Sulaiman (through lived experiences) really added authenticity and passion.

All of the attendees left the workshop feeling not only more equipped and knowledgeable but assured when having further conversations. Could not recommend this workshop enough!’
